Vienna Brahms Trio

Boris Kuschnir, Orfeo Mandozzi, Jasminka Stancul

The Vienna Brahms Trio distinguishes itself for its impeccable playing and “Viennese Charm”. Their interpretations set themselves apart with the combination of respect for tradition and astonishing innovative briskness. The Vienna Brahms Trio is formed by three strong personalities that merge in harmony, and create a unique ensemble. Their passion is the bringing together of beauty, perfection and lively music making. The Vienna Brahms Trio is composed of three world-wide renowned chamber musicians who, as soloists, have won many important international competitions. Founded in 1993, the Trio made a sensational debut in the summer of that same year at Gidon Kremer’s Chamber Music Festival of Lockenhaus. In 1996 the Vienna Brahms Trio won the First Prize at the International Chamber Music Competition of Illzach (Alsace, France).

Since then the Vienna Brahms Trio has performed with great success in the most important venues and festivals worldwide. The numerous appearances include concerts in the Wiener Musikverein during the “Wiener Festwochen”, Mozarteum Salzburg, Kölner Philharmonie, Brucknerhaus Linz, Museum-Society in Frankfurt, Wigmore Hall in London, Auitorio National in Madrid, Wiener Konzerthaus, Vatroslav Lisinski Concert Hall in Zagreb, at the Richter Festival “December Evenings” in Moscow and the St. Petersburg “Musical Spring” at the “Bregenzer Frühling”, at the Mecklenburg-Vorpommern Festival and at “White Nights” in St. Petersburg, Schubertiade Roskilde in Dänemark and the Divonne-Festival. The Vienna Brahms Trio also often invites prominent guest artists to join their performances, such as Julian Rachlin, Nikolaj Znaider, Yuri Bashmet, Gérard Caussé and Lawrence Power.

As an ensemble the Trio has performed various Triple Concertos: with Wiener Chamber Orchestra, directed by Dr. Charles Ansbacher, they played Beethoven’s Triple Concerto at Wiener Konzerthaus; with the same ensemble they played the Concerto at the Festival “Bregenzer Frühling”, under the direction of Philippe Entremont, and again, to critical acclaim, with the Irish National Orchestra in the National Concert Hall of Dublin, directed by Gerhard Markson. In Luxembourg the Vienna Brahms Trio played the Triple Concerto by Bohuslav Martinu, with the Solistes Européens directed by Jack Händler. The Complete Piano Trios by Schumann have been recorded by Vienna Brahms Trio for NAXOS. This edition on 2 CDs is a reference recording, which was honoured by several international music magazines.
